The state that eats the most pizza, according to Pizza Hut’s latest survey, is North Dakota. This Midwestern state keeps its reputation through its love for the classic culinary delight that combines tomato sauce, melted cheese, and a variety of toppings on a comforting crust. Pizza holds its place as one of America’s favorite foods, showcasing the diverse ways it can be prepared and enjoyed in every corner of the country. Changes have swept through Pizza Hut since its inception in the ’70s, yet the chain remains a cherished fixture in the dining landscape. In its second annual Pizza Trends Report, the findings highlighted a pizza passion evident in the residents of North Dakota, who reportedly consume more slices than anyone else in the nation.
The survey, which ran from December 19-30, 2024, questioned 5,000 American adults and found that, on average, individuals eat about 288 slices of pizza each year. Surprisingly, North Dakotans average nearly 10 slices monthly, a carefully calculated figure that offers insight into their regular pizza habits. South Dakota follows closely with about 9½ slices per month, while West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Kansas round out the top five among pizza-loving states.
Perfect Pizza Companions: Wings

The survey also revealed an exciting insight: 59% of Americans believe that chicken wings make the ultimate sidekick to pizza. Pizza Hut’s wings have topped the ranking in Daily Meal’s comparison of wings from 12 different pizza chains, further cementing the duo’s popularity. Among pizza enthusiasts, California leads the charge, with 17% frequently ordering wings alongside their pizza. Delaware and Missouri follow suit, with 16% and 14% respectively, showcasing this tempting combination’s widespread appeal.
Even though the limited-time offering of hot honey pizza and wings at Pizza Hut in 2023 delighted customers, the report indicated a preference for distinct flavor profiles in their meals. Interestingly, 45% of survey participants favored ordering wings and pizza with different taste profiles. Moreover, when it comes to wing preferences, the survey showed a clear inclination for boneless wings, particularly in Kansas, Montana, and Maine, where the numbers reached 64%, 62%, and 60%, respectively.
With these trends in mind, Pizza Hut has creatively designed a new bundle featuring both pizza and wings. This enticing offer includes a one-topping Stuffed Crust pizza paired with 16 of their boneless wings, allowing customers to choose two flavors and receive two dipping sauces for just $19.99.
Pizza and wings symbolize the shared joy that comes with food. They invite an atmosphere of friendship, laughter, and shared experiences. The aroma wafting through the air speaks volumes about moments spent gathered around a table. It’s fascinating how the love for such simple joys binds people together. As for me, there’s something about a slice of pizza paired with those perfect, crispy wings that just makes everything feel right in the world. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia or the joy of good company, but each bite resonates with a warmth that transcends the meal itself.
